      President’s Review

The end of the year is rapidly approaching. Some MIM members are seen moving briskly wearing warm, heavy winter jackets. Others can be seen setting the hook and lazily turning pages of the latest novel as they bask in more temp-erate climates.

Norma and I hope you and your family and friends enjoy the holiday season.

After spending most of the summer in Indiana we drove back through Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming and Utah.  At Park City, Utah we saw rain turn into heavy snow late in October.  We had not driven in snow for several years.  Once we found our favorite stop for the night I observed that the entire lower front of our coach had two inches of packed snow attached.  The wipers had slowed down to jerking sweeps as snow packed along the long wiper arms.   Now we are enjoying the winter as “snow birds” in the Coachella Valley.  Walking in the warm pool each morning assists in keeping the knees mobile.  The tall palms wave at us each morning after having been silent sentinels throughout the night.  I’ve been wondering if our tomato plants will be ready for harvest before the strawberries that are located a short distance down the street.  Yes, it’s difficult living on the road, but some of us must.

We wish that you also welcome in the New Year with enthusiasm for RVing!

Vice President’s Notes

As you travel to your winter destination, look for an area where you could lead a caravan next year.  Each of us has our own favorite places to go—and those places are the easiest ideas from which to develop a caravan.  And remember, you can contact my wife for any help you need with taking your good idea for a caravan to an itinerary!  (connietilman@pocketmail.com  or 805-513-7274)  In order to have caravans for next year, we need leaders.  Have a good holiday and a healthy winter!

  Ed Tilman, Vice President

Treasurer’s Reminder

Our dues are paid on a calendar year basis.  Dues for 2008 should be paid as soon as possible and, in any event, before December 31, 2007 by making out a check for $15.00, payable to Monacos-in-Motion, and mailing it to William F. Miller, Treasurer, Monacos-in-Motion, 11085 Big Canoe, Big Canoe, Georgia 30143.

Please let Bill know of any address changes, e-mail address changes, or telephone number changes which have taken place within 2007.

You may also want to check your FMCA card to see if your dues are current.

If you haven’t already done so, see the Oct/Nov Lifestyles article about the Monacos in Motion  Maritimes Tour.

Congratulations to those who planned and participated! Thanks to Neil Chapin who submitted this well-written review.

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

After the shepherd retired he felt ewes less.

This is a new nominee and must be elected by majority vote.

Treasurer: Bill Miller

As this is his third year, he must be elected by majority vote.

National Director: Jack Sangalli

This office requires election every year.

Alternate National Director: Marcia Ronkin

This office requires election every year.

Nominations may be made from the floor during the election. Thanks  to the Nominating Committee members Kim Pollock, Betty Ann Poindexter, and Bill Ledbetter for presenting the list of candidates.

Results of Alaskan Caravan Survey

The Alaskan survey was included the September issue of Wheels following our meeting in Salem, Oregon because some of our MIM members expressed an interest in an Alaskan caravan. There was not a single response to this survey. Thus, we must continue to seek MIM members to provide leadership in development of a Monacos-in-Motion Alaskan caravan.

New Caravans

The Southwest Canyon Country Caravan and the Land of Enchantment Caravan are both accepting applications now.  Check out the details on these two exciting caravans planned for 2008.  In fact, do them both!  We can't think of a better way to spend the summer than experiencing our beautiful Southwest with your MIM friends.
