This caravan is limited to 12 coaches and is open to Monacos in Motion members only. Hikes of up to approximately 2 miles will be required to participate in some activities!
SUMMARY:
This caravan will include visits to nine National Parks/Monuments and at least nine other attractions, all in the Four Corners region of the Southwest. We will begin in Page (Arizona), and move to Kanab, Bryce, Torrey, and Moab (Utah), and finally Dolores (Colorado). We will use our campgrounds in these towns as “home bases” and will carpool to the various attractions. Note: due to the distances involved, we will often be gone all day – pet owners should take notice! Also, as noted above, a fair amount of strenuous activity may be necessary to reach some of the sites. We recommend good hiking shoes, and hiking poles are very helpful. Total coach mileage between our 6 campgrounds will be approximately 485 miles. There will be no pot lucks – we’ll visit the local eateries to experience the flavor of the Southwest whenever possible, and there may be a couple of cookouts. We have included the cost of most admissions and tours, and many meals, in your registration fee – there will, however, be some nights when you’re on your own.
PRELIMINARY HIGHLIGHTS (SOME TENTATIVE):
Day trips to Arches NP, Anasazi SP, Antelope Canyon, Bryce NP, Canyonlands NP, Capitol Reef NP, Glen Canyon NRA, Grand Canyon NP (North Rim), Mesa Verde NP, Rainbow Bridge NM (by boat), Zion NP.
“Canyonlands by Night” Colorado River Cruise.
14 nights prepaid camping (4 more nights on your own – app. $150).
6 breakfasts and 9 dinners included in your fee.
$700 due with registration. Registrations must be received by March 1, 2008. If more than twelve coaches apply, a drawing will be held on March 15. Make checks payable to Barbara W.
